30th Anniversary of the Cosby Show

September 20th 1984 we witnessed the birth of the Cosby Show.
  • Created by: Michael J. Leeson, Bill Cosby, Ed. Weinberger
We were able to embrace 8 seasons of one of the best situation comedies of all time.
The show focused on the Huxtable family, an upper middle-class African-American family living in a brownstone in Brooklyn Heights, New York, at 10 Stigwood Avenue. The patriarch is Heathcliff "Cliff" Huxtable, played by (Bill Cosby) an obstetrician, son of a prominent jazz trombonist. The matriarch is his wife, attorney Clair Huxtable née Hanks. (Played by Phylicia Rashād) They have five children, four daughters and one son: Sondra, Denise, Theodore (Theo for short), Vanessa and Rudy. Despite its comedic tone, the show sometimes involves serious subjects, such as Theo's experiences dealing with dyslexia, inspired by Cosby's son Ennis, who was also dyslexic. The show also deals with teenage pregnancy when Denise's friend, Veronica, played by Lela Rochon, becomes pregnant. The assemblage of talent and also chemistry was the greatest of all time.  The memories that cast and production crew had put together brings a certain level of appreciation for all the seasons it was aired, and even afterward in re-runs.
Huxtable children's grandparents celebrating their 50th year weeding anniversary with dinner, and lip singing to a classic song Night Time is the Right Time by Ray Charles, and other shows, brought a universal approach that was the greatest of all time.
